SPARK is a two-week summer readiness day "kamp" that prepares students 8-16 years old for an examination of multiple performing arts genres. During the learning process, students are introduced to celebrated professionals in their specific craft. This kamp is open to all ethnicities and genders. Kamp hours are daily from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. During the kamp "Madagascar, Lr." will be recorded in studio & shot on a green screen with kampers individually (covid-conscious filming). MBAA's "Madagascar, Jr." will premiere on the silver screen at the Levitt Shell on July 16, 2021 at 8:00 PM.

Mission Statement

To engage Memphis area our youth in a summer multi-disciplinary arts boot-camp taught by noted professional performing artists, college/university instructors, and performing arts school educators in an effort to catapult good communication skills, increased grammar and mathematical aptitudes, and careers in music, stage, television, and film, while also instilling the importance to utilize their abilities to enhance their communities and the inner-city.


Audition & Broadcast dates

• Casting 24 youths ages 8 -16 (all ethnicities & genders)

• Auditions to be submitted virtually by May 21st (self-takes) send to mbaa@memphisblackarts.org, specific part auditions and callbacks will occur during the Kamp itself

• Premier Date: July 16 , 2021 (8:00 PM) at the Levitt Shell

• Kamp dates are June 21 – July 2, 2021 (8:00am– 4:00pm)
